Participation and presentation in International Symposium on Olfaction and Taste (ISOT) and promotion of taste receptor study

Report: Suzuki Nami

Date: 2012/6/22 - 2012/6/30

I participated in the 16th International Symposium on Olfaction and Taste (ISOT) and made a poster presentation entitled "Identification of PTC "non-taster" Japanese macaques caused by TAS2R38 dysfunction". Because many researchers who study various field of taste and olfaction attended this symposium, I obtained many useful comments. I also got the information from various presentations on the latest topics in taste and olfaction studies. During this symposium, I had meaningful discussion about behavioral, physiological and functional experiments of bitter taste with Prof. Hellekant (University of Minnesota), Prof. Laska (Linköping University) and Prof. Meyerhof (German Institute of Human Nutrition). This symposium provided me a great chance to exchange information with many researchers.
