Professor Toshisada NISHIDA passed away

Professor Toshisada NISHIDA, the leading scholar of the
study of wild chimpanzees, especially in Mahale Mountains in Tanzania
passed away in June 7th at the age of 70.

He was the president of Primate Society Japan, the president of
International primatological society.
He is serving as the director of the Japan Monkey Center,
and the editor of the journal "Primates".

Prof. Nishida is the pioneer of the study of wild chimpanzees.
He has received the Jane-Goodall award in 1990, and the
first recipient of the Leakey award in 2008.

We really appreciate his efforts to put the Japanese primatology forward
through his entire career.
