Collaborative Study at National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA) and Participation to the International Workshop on Tropical Biodiversity Conservation
Report: SAYOKO UEDA
Date: 2012/10/21 - 2012/11/ 1
To present a poster of my research: "Function of Facial color pattern as Visual Signal in Canid species ", I visited Brazil from 21st October to 1st November.
The workshop of International Network for Tropical Biodiversity Conservation Focusing on the Studies on Large Animals was held at National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA) from October 23th to 24th in Manaus.
I could understand researches and conservation activities on Amazonian wild animals by INPA and other researchers.
Then I also visited the Amazon River and Amazon rainforests from 25th to 28th October.
In Amazon River, I observed wild river dolphins and the meeting point of two kinds of water of black-water and white-water.
In rainforests of riverside (Ecopark) and landside (ZFII), I observed wild birds, lizards insects, other animals and different vegetations.
It was interesting for me that the difference of forest between Borneo and Amazon, for example, Amazon forest looks like secondary forest: tiny tree and open canopy, and had many kinds of trees, I couldn't found the main species of vegetation.
