Collaborative Study at National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA) and Participation to the International Workshop on Tropical Biodiversity Conservation

 I made a poster presentation on my research entitled Estrous monitoring methods in carnivore species with different estrous patterns in the workshop, International Network for Tropical Biodiversity Conservation Focusing on the Studies on Large Animals, at National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA), held on 23rd to 24th October. I could confirm that my research technique applied for captive breeding would be applicable also to the animal in the wild. Also, I could understand researches and conservation activities on Amazonian wild animals by INPA researchers. Especially, the oral presentation about the reproductive physiology of male giant otters, which content was the sex-maturation, became informative for my future work. I visited the Amazon River from 25th to 26th October and the Eco park and ZF2 Forest on 27th to 28th October. I observed wild animals such as Amazon river dolphins and tucuxies in the river, and giant anteater and tamarin in the ZF2 Forest. Also, I realized the differences in the biodiversity between a blackwater and whitewater river ecosystem and characteristics of the Amazon rainforests.
