On-the-job training of wildlife in the Conservation Area of Sabah,

 Borneo is noted for its bio diversity and is one of the most pristine rainforest on the globe.

 The purposes of this study are (1) to promote understanding on the tropical ecosystem and environment, (2) to discus about the future of conservation and tourism. We visited Imbak Canyon and Maliau Basin in Borneo, Sabah.

 We stayed at Imbak Canyon between 21st and 24th July 2011. It was incredibly hot and humid on the trek, through some very rough hilly terrain. We could not find many field sign of mammals. In Imbak Canyon, animals might be few. However, there are many beautiful viewpoints such as waterfalls, pristine forest and river. So, Imbak Canyon hold promises as a potential ecotourism site. Not much is known about Imbak Canyon. It is necessary to do scientific study for the conservation activities. We stayed at Maliau Basin between 24th and 28th July 2011.  We could find Bearded Pigs, Plain Pygmy Squirrels and many birds. We went for night drive and saw Squirrels, Civets and a Sambar Deer. We could find many field signs of mammals on the trek.

 Talking with local people on the discussion session, I realized the various aspects of conservation. I could recognize the importance of scientific study of ecology for the conservation activities.
