1. Job description
Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University (KUPRI) is seeking to
appoint a suitable candidate to the position of Program-Specific
Assistant Professor for Department of Wildlife Science (funded by
Nagoya Railroad Co. Ltd.). The Department conducts the research aimed
at promoting conservation in the wild and welfare in captivity of
endangered species including nonhuman primates. The Department aims to
synthesize fieldwork, life-science, and other approaches in a new
discipline called “Wildlife Science”. In collaboration
with zoos, aquariums, and museums, the Department will illuminate with
human coexistence with other creatures. The candidate should be a
person who can connect the Primate Research Institute and the Japan
Monkey Centre (http://www.j-monkey.jp/jmc-e/top-e.html).
The successful candidate will belong to the leading graduate program
“Primatology and Wildlife Science” and is exempt from any
administrative responsibilities.
2. Application procedure
Candidates are requested to submit the following documents in
triplicate (copies are acceptable). English or Japanese is acceptable.
(1) CV with detailed account of academic activity and research grant
record.
(2) List of academic publications and reprints.
(3) List of non-academic/popular publications and reprints of those
most representative of your research.
(4) Summary of research that the candidate has conducted (about 1000
words).
(5) Summary of research that the candidate intends to carry out at
KUPRI (about 1000 words).

3. Selection procedure and feedback to candidates
A committee will be set up at KUPRI to evaluate all candidates, based
on the documents submitted. The final decision will be made by all
faculty members. Each candidate will be informed of the final decision
pertaining to him/herself only.
