1. Job description
Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University (KUPRI) is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate to the position of Program-Specific Assistant Professor for the research project entitled "Development and application of optical technology for spatiotemporal control of biological functions (Opt Bio)" by Core Research for Evolutionary Science and Technology (CREST). This research project is conducted in the Systems Neuroscience Section at the Department of Neuroscience, and the objective of the project is to elucidate and reconstruct dopamine functions by optogenetic approaches in nonhuman primates. Detailed research plans are as follows: (1) Development of optogenetic methodologies applicable to the primate brain; (2) Elucidation of roles of topographical dopamine signals in the cortico-basal ganglia circuit; and (3) Reconstruction of dopamine functions by optogenetic approaches in the primate brain. A person who has knowledge and experience of neurophysiological and/or neuroanatomical studies in nonhuman primates is preferable. The successful candidate is exempt from any administrative responsibilities.

(5) Summary of research that the candidate intends to carry out at KUPRI (about 1000 words).

3. Selection procedure and feedback to candidates
