1. Job description
Faculty Consort of Primatology and Wildlife Science is seeking to
appoint a suitable candidate to the position of associate professor in
the Language and Intelligence Section, Department of Cognitive
Science, Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University (KUPRI). The
department is conducting interdisciplinary research in human and
nonhuman primates for understanding the evolutionary origin of human
minds and behavior. The Language and Intelligence Section aims to
conduct research on primate intelligence from the standpoint of
comparative cognitive science, mainly studying chimpanzees. Prior
experience with primates is not essential. The successful applicant is
also expected to promote primate research from a broad perspective, to
teach and supervise graduate students, and to contribute to
administration of the institute.
2. Application procedure
Candidates are requested to submit the following documents. An
application written in either English or Japanese is acceptable.

(2) Detailed account of academic activity and research grant records
(3) List of academic publications (with indication of your top 5
articles) and PDF files of these 5 articles
(4) List of non-academic/general readership publications
(5) Summary of research that the candidate has conducted (about 1000
words).
(6) Summary of research that the candidate intends to carry out at
KUPRI (about 1000 words).

3. Selection procedure and feedback to candidates
A committee will be set up at the Faculty Consort to evaluate all
candidates, based on the documents submitted. There might be an
interview by faculty members. The final decision will be made by all
members of the Faculty Consort. Each candidate will be informed of the
final decision pertaining to him/herself only.
