1. Job description
Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University (KUPRI) is seeking
to appoint a suitable candidate to the position of Associate
Professor in the Cognition and Learning Section. The section aims to
conduct research on cognition and learning in primates (including
humans) through behavioral and brain aspects, using variable methods
such as experimentation and field observation. Prior experience with
non-human primates is not essential. Adequate knowledge of Japanese
is required, as the successful candidate is required to fully
participate in faculty meetings and other administrative matters
conducted in Japanese, and to lecture graduate students in either
English or Japanese. Faculty members are also expected to promote
the research of primates from a broad perspective, to teach and
supervise graduate students, and to contribute to the administration
of the institute.
2. Application procedure
Candidates are requested to submit the following documents in
triplicate (copies are acceptable). English or Japanese is
acceptable.
(1) CV with detailed account of academic activity and research
grant record.
(2) List of academic publications (indicate your top 10) and
reprints.
(3) List of non-academic/popular publications and reprints of those
most representative of your research.
(4) Summary of research that the candidate has conducted (about 1500
words).
(5) Summary of research that the candidate intends to carry out at
KUPRI (about 1500 words).

3. Selection procedure and feedback to candidates
A committee will be set up at KUPRI to evaluate all candidates,
based on the documents submitted. The final decision will be made by
all faculty members. Each candidate will be informed of the final
decision pertaining to him/herself only.
