1. Job description
The KUPRI is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate to the position
of full professor in the Department of Cognitive Science. The
department conducts interdisciplinary research in human and nonhuman
primates to understand the evolutionary origins of human minds and
behavior. At this time, we are seeking a researcher whose research
fits the mission of the department. Prior experience with primates is
not essential. The successful applicant is also expected to promote
primate research from a broad perspective, to teach and supervise
graduate students, and to contribute to administration of the
institute.
2. Application procedure
Candidates are requested to submit the following documents. An
application written in either English or Japanese is acceptable.
(1) Curriculum Vitae
(2) Detailed account of academic activity and research grant
records
(3) List of academic publications (Publications should be
listed in chronological order and numbered. The corresponding author
of each publication should be marked with an asterisk. The
publication numbers of your top 10 publications should be circled. PDF
files of these top 10 publications should be included in digital media
format (e.g. CD, DVD, USB, SD).
(4) List of non-academic/general readership publications
(5) Summary of research that the candidate has conducted (about
1500 words).
(6) Summary of research that the candidate intends to carry out
at KUPRI (about 1500 words).
All application documents, including one hard copy of #1-6 above
(except the publication reprints) and all PDF files (including the PDF
reprints) in digital media format (e.g. CD, DVD, USB), must arrive by
the deadline (17:00 in Japanese Standard Time on Friday, September 27,

3. Selection procedure and feedback to candidates
A committee will be set up at KUPRI to evaluate all candidates based
on the documents submitted. Potential candidates may be invited for an
interview with faculty members of the institute and a committee member
from outside of the institute. The final decision will be made by all
faculty members. Each candidate will be informed of the final decision
pertaining to their own application.

Evolution Modeling Research, Center for International Collaboration
and Advanced Studies in Primatology, Endowed Research Section
[Department of Chimpanzee Research (Hayashibara)], and Endowed
Research Section [Department of Wildlife Science Research (Nagoya
Railroad Co., Ltd)]. Graduate level education is conducted within the
Division of Biological Science in the Graduate School of Science.
