1. Job description
Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University (KUPRI) is seeking to
appoint a suitable candidate to the position of Assistant Professor in
the Molecular Biology Section, Department of Cellular and Molecular
Biology. The department consists of the Systems Neuroscience Section
and the Molecular Biology Section. In the Molecular Biology Section, a
wide range of research is performed on primates with the goal of
elucidating the molecular and cellular basis for specific behaviors
and adaptations to the environment, particularly, by investigating the
structure and function of DNA, RNA, and proteins and their
evolutionary roles in primates including humans. Prior experience with
nonhuman primates is not essential. Adequate knowledge of Japanese is
required, as the successful candidate is required to fully participate
in faculty meetings and other administrative matters conducted in
Japanese, and to lecture graduate students in either English or
Japanese. Faculty members are also expected to promote the research of
primates from a broad perspective, to teach and supervise graduate
students, and to contribute to the administration of the institute.

(1) CV with detailed account of academic activity and research
grant record.
(2) List of academic publications (please mark 5 representative
publications) and the reprints of all the publications.
(3) List of non-academic/popular publications and reprints of those
most representative of your research.
(4) Summary of research that the candidate has conducted (about 1000
words).
(5) Summary of research that the candidate intends to carry out at
KUPRI (about 1000 words).

3. Selection procedure and feedback to candidates
A committee will be set up at KUPRI to evaluate all candidates, based
on the documents submitted. The final decision will be made by all
faculty members. Each candidate will be informed of the final decision
pertaining to him/herself only.
