1. Job description
Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University (KUPRI) is seeking to
appoint a suitable candidate to the full professor position in the
Department of Cognitive Science. The department has been conducting
interdisciplinary research in human and nonhuman primates for
understanding the evolutionary origin of human minds and behavior. At
this time of recruitment, we are seeking a researcher whose research
matches with this mission of the department. Prior experience with
primates is not essential. The successful applicant is also expected
to promote primate research from a broad perspective, to teach and
supervise graduate students, and to contribute to administration of
the institute.
2. Application procedure
Candidates are requested to submit 3 copies of the following
documents. An application written in either English or Japanese is
acceptable.
(1) A CV with detailed academic activity and research grant
records.
(2) A list of academic publications (with indication of your top 10
articles) and copies of these 10 articles.
(3) A list of non-academic/general readership publications and
reprints most representing your research.
(4) A summary of research that the candidate has conducted (about 1500
words).
(5) A summary of research that the candidate intends to carry out at
KUPRI (about 1500 words).

3. Selection procedure and feedback to candidates
A committee will be set up at KUPRI to evaluate all candidates,
based on the documents submitted. A potential candidate may be invited
for an interview with faculty members of the institute and a committee
member from outside of the institute. The final decision will be made
by all faculty members. Each candidate will be informed of the final
decision only for their own application.
