1. Job description

The Primate Research Institute invites applications for an assistant professor position in CICASP, a new center established in 2009. Kyoto University is one of the top universities in Japan. The Primate Research Institute is one of the 14 Research Institutes of Kyoto University, and is an international center for primatology. For further information, please visit: http://www.pri.kyoto-u.ac.jp. CICASP aims to promote the international collaboration and advanced studies in primatology. It also facilitates the entrance of international students into the English Ph.D. and Master's program in primatology for the Graduate School of Science. The applicant must have a strong research background and a commitment to teaching excellence, and an outstanding research record in primatology in any domain of the discipline. The successful candidate should be able to teach a masters course in "Topics in Primatology" and to manage the center. Fluency in both Japanese and English is essential.

2. Application procedure

Candidates are requested to submit the following documents in triplicate (copies are acceptable). English or Japanese is acceptable.

(1) CV
(2) Detailed account of academic activity and research grant record.
(3) List of academic publications and reprints.
(4) List of non-academic/popular publications and reprints of those most representative of your research.
(5) Summary of research that the candidate has conducted (about 1000 words).
(6) Summary of research that the candidate intends to carry out at KUPRI (about 1000 words).
(7) Ideas about how the candidate can contribute to the management of CICASP (about 500 words)

3. Selection procedure and feedback to candidates

A committee will be set up at KUPRI to evaluate all candidates, based on the documents submitted. There might be an interview by faculty members. The final decision will be made by all faculty members. Each candidate will be informed of the final decision pertaining to him/herself only.
