Job description
The Primate Research Institute invites applications for a Professor / Associate Professor position in CICASP, a center established in 2009. Kyoto University is one of the top universities in Japan. The Primate Research Institute is one of the 14 Research Institutes of Kyoto University, and is an international center for Primatology. For further information, please visit: http://www.pri.kyoto-u.ac.jp. CICASP promotes internationalization at Primate Research Institute through its research and educational activities. CICASP is dedicated to the recruitment of international students, the facilitation and support of international collaboration, and the education and encouragement of students to become leaders in their respective international scientific communities. The applicants must have a strong research background and a commitment to teaching excellence, and an outstanding research record in Primatology in any domain of the discipline. English fluency is mandatory. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to CICASP and PRI as follows:

1) Teaching a masters course in "Comparative Animal Behavior"

2) Developing and providing a workshop training students in science communication with other faculties of CICASP (e.g. scientific oral / poster presentations, scientific debate, and critical reading)

3) Conducting the international entrance examination with other faculty members

4) Developing a strategy to recruit international students

5) Supporting international students and researchers

6) Teaching all of the 4 courses provided through the Institute for Liberal Arts and Science (ILAS):
   1) Conservation Biology, 2) Zoo Biology, 3) Animal Behavior, 4) Comparative Cognition

7) Participating in faculty meetings and other committees for administration.

  (2) Detailed account of academic activity and research grant record
  (3) List of academic publications and reprints of five most representative papers of your research
  (4) List of non-academic/popular publications
  (5) Summary of research that the candidate has conducted (about 1000 words).
  (6) Summary of research that the candidate intends to carry out at KUPRI (about 1000 words).
  (7) Ideas about how the candidate can contribute to the promotion, development, and management of
CICASP and KUPR (about 500 words)

2. Selection procedure and feedback to candidates
A committee will be set up at Kyoto University to evaluate all candidates, based on the documents submitted. There might be an interview by faculty members. The final decision will be made by all faculty members. Each candidate will be informed of the final decision pertaining to him/herself only.

Those with Japanese nationality cannot apply for this position. Current Kyoto University faculties other than program-specific professors are not eligible for this position either.
