1. Job description

Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University (KUPRI) is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate to the position of Program-Specific Assistant Professor (Departmental Operation Activation Expenses) who will promote research regarding co-evolution between primate retroviruses and their hosts as well as viral host tropism. Kyoto University has started the new program “Collaborative Research Unit for Viral Diseases -Research Core For Evolutional Virology-” in cooperation between KUPRI and Institute for Virus Research. This program is aimed to create the brand-new research field, Evolutional Virology, through which we will shed light on the co-evolution between the viruses and primates and underlying mechanisms of infectious diseases caused by the viruses. Prior experience regarding primate retroviruses is preferable. The successful candidate is exempt from any administrative jobs and is expected to promote the research at the new unit in Institute for Virus Research, Kyoto University.

2. Application procedure
Candidates are requested to submit the following documents in triplicate (copies are acceptable). English or Japanese is acceptable.

(1) CV with detailed account of academic activity and research grant record.
(2) List of academic publications and reprints.
(3) List of non-academic/popular publications and reprints of those most representative of your research.
(4) Summary of research that the candidate has conducted (about 1000 words).
(5) Summary of research that the candidate intends to carry out at the program (about 1000 words).

3. Selection procedure and feedback to candidates
A committee will be set up at KUPRI to evaluate all candidates, based on the documents submitted. The final decision will be made by all faculty members. Each candidate will be informed of the final decision pertaining to him/herself only.
