This section aims to understand primate diversity and human evolution through studies of primate morphology from various perspectives of physical anthropology  and evolutionary biology. The activity of this section covers a wide range of morphological studies, such as the field survey on the modern human expansion over the Pacific, primate developmental studies through somatometry and osteometry, osteological studies on the craniofacial variations among extant primates, analyses of human skeletal remains discovered from archaeological sites, the field survey on the evolution of the fossil and extant hominoids in Africa and Eurasia, anatomical studies of the vocal apparatus with reference to the origins of human language, and functional morphology of the primate masticatory organs.
