Asian Science Seminar on Biodiversity

The Primate Research Institute of Kyoto University is organizing an Asian

Science Seminar funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).

The seminar aims to invite about 25 young staff and students of doctoral

course from Asian countries to promote advances in research among Asian

scientists and students. The theme of the seminar is "Synthetic Studies on

Biodiversity, - Messages from Primatology -".

Staff and students of the Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University, have

been studying the evolution of primates and the origin of humankind from a

variety of scientific fields including biology, ecology, sociology, systematics,

morphology, cognition, physiology, brain science, genetics, molecular biology,

conservation biology. The seminar aims to cover many of the frontiers in these

scientific fields through lectures and practical field and lab courses.

The seminar will be held from the 26th of July to the 6th of August, at the

Primate Research Institute in Inuyama. JSPS will provide support for the

airfare ticket between the home country and Japan (Nagoya) and living expenses

at Inuyama for all accepted participants.
