事業報告事業番号：19-009 南インドの野生霊長類の野外調査と研究連絡 報告者：チャマリ ナハラゲ 期間：2007/09/23 - 2007/10/09 本人がスリランカにおいて、野生霊長類の行動生態学的研究をおこなっている。その研究プロジェクトの総括的な発展を促進するには、隣国であるインドに生息する系統的に近い霊長類種やその他の霊長類種との相違点を知ることや現地の研究者との交流を含めることは不可欠である。 The main objective of this field trip was to visit the different National Parks in Southern India to observe the different primate species (5 species) inhabiting this region and also to meet the scientists and researchers working with primates to discuss future collaborative research work between Sri Lanka, India and Japan. I arrived in Bangalore India on the 23rd of September. On the 24th I visited the National Institute of Advanced Studies to meet Prof. Anindya Singha and Dr. Sindhu Radakrishna. and was also able to meet and talk with other faculty members of this institute as well. On the 25th and 26th we traveled to Bandipur National Park and Mudumalai NP to observe bonnet macaques and hanuman langurs. Also we had a meeting at the Nature Conservation Fund Head office in Mysore with the staff and students. On the 27th to 29th we traveled to Sharawathi Nature Reserve with Dr. N. H. Kumar, in northern Karnataka to observe nilgiri langurs, bonnet macaques, lion-tailed macaques and the nocturnal malabar slender loris. From the 30th of September to 3rd October we visited Anamalai NP in Tamil Nadu State with Dr. H.N. Kumara and Mr. Ananda Kumara where we observed nilgiri langurs and lion-tail macaques. We also visited the forest restoration project site in Valparai and the Anamalai Nature Information Centre. On the 4th and 5th October we visited with Prof. Mewa Singh in the Department of Psychology, at Mysore University. On the 6th and 7th October we attended seminars arranged for our visit at NIAS and had fruitful discussions with students and faculty about their research and about building further links between them and Japan and Sri Lankan researchers. On the evening of the 7th I left India and arrived in Bangkok on the 8th to spend the day visiting with Prof. Suchinda Malaivijitnond. She took me to Chulalongkorn University and showed me the Primate Research Unit, of which she is the director. In the afternoon we traveled outside of the city to visit Lop Buri to observe city long- tailed macaques and semi-wild stump-tailed macaques. On the morning of the 9th I left Bangkok and arrived in Nagoya the same day.
