Participating the 2nd symposium on Asian Zoo and Wildlife
Medicine and collaborative research work in Yangon Zoological Gardens.

From October 25th to 29th, I attended the 2nd meeting of
Asian Zoo and Wildlife Medicine which was held at Chulalongkorn
University, Bangkok, Thailand. The 1st executive conference for the
establishment of the Society for Asian Zoo and Wildlife Medicine was held
during this meeting and the place and time for the 3rd academic meeting
was decided. A poster on the anatomy of the female reproductive organs of
Pangolin was presented and much valuable information was exchanged among
the participants.From October 30th to November 3rd, I visited Yangon
Zoological Gardens in Yangon, Myanmmar. The carcasses of a mouse deer and
an albino individual were dissected by myself and the chief surgeon of
this zoo. The location of the salivary glands, the degree of development
of the stomach of a new-born baby, and the anatomical characteristics of
the albino individual were studied. There was also a discussion and
exchange of information with the faculty staff of the Department of
Zoology, Yangon University, on the biology, habits and the breeding
behavior of the mouse deer.
