International Primatological Society (IPS) Congress is the biggest meeting of researchers who concern to primates. This meeting would facilitate primatoligist to communicate and discuss the new finding and issues about primate research and conservation. This event also prepares student with training and practice how to communicate their works and exchange information with other researchers. Researchers will get chances to establish and strengthen network with others, who have the same interest. I took a part in this event and presented my study entitled "Social Development of Aggressive Behavior in a Captive of Japanese Macaques (Macaca fuscata).

The IPS congress was held from June 25th to June 30th, 2006. Final registration was made on June 25th at the congress venue. Every participant received a bundle of guidance including time schedule, event and paper abstract for all works being presented in the congress. Opening ceremony was held on June 26th. The president of the IPS, Dr. Richard Wrangham, gave opening speech and President of Republic of Uganda, Mr. Museveni, came to deliver an honorable speech. Plenary lectures were begun from 8:30 to 10:00 everyday. I attended all the plenary lectures, which is given by well-known professors. Symposium, oral session presentation and roundtable discussion were begun at ten everyday. These meeting were scheduled parallel in several rooms dividing into various topics, classification of monkeys and also zoogeographic; for instances, social behavior, ecology, conservation, apes, and rain forest primates. Poster session was conducted only on June 28th from 16:30 to 18:00. Since many talks and presentations had parallel schedule, every participant has to select their own interest to join. I attended social behavior topics at oral and symposium, which were more relevant with my study. I also participated in roundtable discussion, all those brought me some ideas and thought. I did my oral presentation on June 26th at Session 5 (Social Behavior). After participating to the IPS congress, I joined wildlife safari at Murchison Fall National Park and tracked chimpanzee at Budongo Forest Reserve. These activities gave me some knowledge and direct experience to the African wildlife.
