Period of visit: 16th Octorber,2005-22th Octorber,2005

Thailand Chulalongkorn University

I took part in the International Symposium on Southeast Asian Primate Research to advocate the basic establishment of the dead body science and the natural history and of the storage system of the mammalogical collections in Thailand. I examined the future plan to develop the inventory system of the primate and mammal specimens distributed in Thailand Institute of Science and Technological Research, National Science Museum, Thailand, Chulalogkorn University and Kasetsart University, and I helped the Thailand researchers of the institutes to make a future initiatives on the collection building, and started making the networks on the natural history on primatology and mammalogy in this country. In addition, the comparative morphological studies were carried out to confirm the biodiversity of tree shrews and rodents in the Indochinese Region at Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, Thailand Institute of Science and Technological Research and National Science Museum, Thailand. The osteometrical characters were examined to detail the masticatory system and central nervous system in these animals. The findings helped us to understand the mammal fauna in the Indochinese Regions. From the results, we will soon indicate the new concept on the science of biodiversity on the primates and mammals in the East Asian Regions.
