Contribution of trunk movements to primate locomotion

I visited Prof. H. Witte at Technical University of Ilmenau and Prof. M. Fischer at Friedrich-Schiller University Jena, who are renowned for their pioneering studies on animal locomotion by using cineradiography, to discuss about possible future joint collaboration on "Contribution of trunk movements to primate locomotion". We basically agreed to collaborate on instrumentations, analyses and mathematical modeling of trunk movements during locomotion in Japanese monkeys and humans in the next couple of years. 

In addition, I had many opportunities to have discussions with their colleagues and graduate students specializing in related fields such as biomechatronics, neurophysiology, and sports science on their latest locomotion studies. I also had a chance to give a talk on my current studies in a seminar. Furthermore, I attended the 3rd International Symposium on Adaptive Motions of Animals and Machines held at Technical University of Ilmenau (Chair: Prof. H. Witte) to present a talk on "Energy efficient bipedal locomotor strategy in bipedally-trained Japanese macaques" and to exchange thoughts and ideas with other participants.
