The German Primate Center

On a mutual information exchange between The Primate Research Institute of Kyoto University and The German Primate Center (GPC), I visited GPC in Gottingen from September 22, 2005 to September 27, 2005. I provided information about the organization and research in The Primate Research Institute of Kyoto University. I also explained about the organization of HOPE. From GPC, I received information about the research performed in the sections of Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology, Cognitive Ethology, Primate Genetics, Reproductive Biology, Stem Cell Research, Primate Husbandry, Cognitive Neurosciences, Neurobiology, Clinical Neurobiology, Infection Pathology, and Virology and Immunology. Statistical data on (a) the numbers and species maintained in GPC, (b) numbers of animals for the breeding and of new born animals each year, (c) numbers of animals which are supplied to other institution each year were also received.

On September 26, I delivered a seminar entitled "molecular mechanisms of the development and aging in the primate brain - from the viewpoint of neurotrophins-", to an audience of about 50.
